Way to glow!

During the warmer months my blush tends to come off quicker than usual. The hot sun leaves no room for a wanted cheek glow. One type of blush I have found that withstands heat and even water is Cream blush. It leaves a natural and dewy tint that holds. A natural flush makes you look awake, healthy and vibrant. For cheeks that stay glowing all day try Jane Iredale’s In Touch Cream Blush. When swept over the apples of the cheeks, this blush leaves a flush that is soft, dewy and natural. Another tip to open the face, place it no closer in than the iris of the eye. Using a brush or your fingers to blend in a circular motion.  Can this get any more simple?

No more disappearing blush act!

The highlight of the day.

I have been currently using a highlighter on my face during my makeup routine. The best place to apply it depends on where you want to accent your face. I like to place a little bit on top of my cheekbones, just above my blush, and then blend the two together. I also like to place a small amount on the outer parts of my eyebrows. The top of your eyebrow and cheekbone can be connected with the product in a C shape. Jane Iredale’s In Touch Highlighter add the perfect glow. This cream-to-powder highlight has a pale pink tone which leaves a natural radiance for every look you want to achieve. You can apply In Touch Highlighter directly to the skin and blend with fingers, or use one of your favorite synthetic brushes.

Let your radiance shine!

Highlighter How-To:

New Skin.

During the cold seasons our skin becomes weak and begins to form dry patches. An area in particular would be the legs. Our legs are hid away behind jeans given no attention. Now that the warm weather has arrived it’s time to repair our legs. In response to my post on sunless tanning, there is one step important step I do before applying tanning lotion. The best way to permanently rid of stubborn dead skin would be to exfoliate. Finding a safe and gentle exfoliant is important because your skin is very delicate. Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant is a water activated exfoliant. It has a unique rice-based enzyme powder that microfoliates even the most sensitive areas and can be used everyday.

Exfoliate your way to smooth and lively skin!

Take a look at the How-To:

Instant Glamour.

I believe that being glamorous can be shown in the simplest ways. When I think of glamour, I imagine eye popping lashes. There are a few ways to achieve full lashes, one being a plumping mascara, and the other being false lashes. Let’s be honest, most of us don’t have the desire to where false lashes in our everyday lives. They can be a hassle, and tend to have an unnatural feeling about them. Frustrations aside, there is a pleasant alternative. Jane Iredale’s Professional Faux individual Lashes allow you to have the natural look and feel of your own lashes, as well as achieving a more full set of eyelashes. How I incorporate individual lashes into my daily makeup wear is by placing them onto the outer corners of my eye. This widens the eye, for a sultry, yet subtle look. These are a perfect example of bringing glamour to your day no matter what the occasion.

Feel free and bat those lashes!

Without the sunburn.

I have been preparing for summer in various ways. One of those ways is pre-tanning. It is nice to get a prepared glow right before summer. Tanning beds are not something I go for, so sunless tanners are at the top of my list. When purchasing a tanning lotion you need to be sure it is right for you. In my hunt for a lotion I have come across some that have left my skin uneven and streaky after one use. I find it best to search for a gradual tan, tanning lotion. It gives you the ability to have control of the shade you want. Image Skincare’s Body Spa and Face and Body Bronzer Crème is a perfect example of just that. It allows you to gradually build and control color and doesn’t have a strong smell or orange color build up. This paraben free lotion hydrates and moisturizes the skin leaving you with a natural glow any time of the day.

Look no further, and try this on!

Now you see it, now you don’t!

Acne spots are a hassle in themselves, but when it comes to wearing makeup I avoid covering them. Not only does it clog the pores even more, it actually makes the spot more visible. There’s nothing worse than emphasizing a zit that you originally attempted to cover. How can we find a way to not only cover acne spots, but rid of them too? Jane Iredale’s Disappear Camouflage Cream is the sign of hope. Its high pigment not only covers breakouts, it also eliminates them. This liposome’s based formula nourishes the skin with Seaweed, green tea extracts, and Super oxide dismutase, a copper-containing protein enzyme, decomposes free radicals. Don’t let your acne get the spotlight; shine a light on clear skin. You’ve got nothing to lose, but some stubborn breakouts!

Invisible shield of refreshment.

Lately, when cleansing my face at night I notice that it feels very dull. Whether I’m working, running errands, or spending time outdoors, my week takes a toll on my skin. I have been looking for ways to “awaken” my skin and give me that extra boost throughout my day. Dermalogica’s Antioxidant Hydramist is a refreshment for your face. It improves skin’s texture, fights environmental damage and immensely hydrates the skin. The Hydramist formula holds Polypeptide’s and Glucosamine which help target internal skin damage before it becomes visible. One way to incorporate Hydramist into your cleansing routine’s is to first apply it after moisturizing. This makes for a smooth makeup application. You can also carry it in your bag to freshen up when needed throughout the day. This is a perfect pick-me-up!

Bright Eyes

Spring has sprung upon us! With winter’s dark hue behind us, it is time to bring out the bright. As a freelance makeup artist when it comes to make up, I love to play with bright colors. Spring is the perfect excuse for that perfect coral pink lipstick that I love. Aside from lip color, I love finding new eye shadow colors to suit my skin tone. The Artists Eyes II palette from Jane Iredale is the perfect idea of that. This compact palette consists of six vibrant colors with the names Copper, Cut Grass, Grape, Blue Sky, Truffle and Indigo. If these names don’t already scream spring and summer, you should see how they transform the eye. Copper and Cut Grass neutralize redness in the eyelids and instantly brighten the eye. Grape is a deep shade for the outer corners of the eye. Truffle and Indigo are gorgeous shades to contour and line. One of my favorite’s from this palette is Blue Sky; it is perfect for instant highlight of the eyes inner corner. A highlight is a perfect start to a spring makeup look. No matter where you choose to start, always remember to wear your bright smile!

The perfect family.

Image Skincare has some of my favorite products. My favorite Image Skincare product is their Matte Moisturizer.  It absorbs the oil on my face, and still manages to moisturize. I have acne prone skin which makes it hard to keep my skin clear. Image Skin care carries a line called Clear Cell that caters to fighting acne, inflammation, and excess oil. I have come across an item from that Line called clear cell salicylic gel cleanser. This product is ideal for oily-acne prone skin. The Salicylic based gel cleanser gently removes makeup and rids of excess oil. It gently exfoliates dead skin cells and keeps skin smooth and soft. My favorite part about it is that it is complimented by the Daily Defense Matte Moisturizer SPF 30. This makes for a perfect combination!

Blogger’s day at the spa!

Life carries many versions of stress. For example, work, school, endless errands. We must give our self moments of peace by putting daily routine’s aside. What is the best way to do so, and where you ask? I have recently treated myself with one of many spa treatments here at Skin Works. I received the Therapeutic Stone Facial. This consisted of one full hour of bliss. Among the dimmed lights, relaxing music, hot steam, aromatic oils, heated stones and soothing products from the Image and Dermalogica skincare lines, I cannot tell you which my favorite part was. As I settled on the spa bed, I closed my eyes. Staring at the back of my eyelids became something natural. Feeling every pore on my face opening and releasing impurities was the first sign of refreshment. It was in that moment of inhaling, and exhaling the aromas, that I also felt my daily stresses melt away. The incredible part about it was that, that was just the beginning. If there is one thing I want everyone to remember, it would be that if you cannot go on a getaway to escape stress, you can give yourself a break for an hour to indulge in a spa treatment at Skin Works. The students are sure to put you at ease, assuring you the best experience possible. Your mind, body, and spirit will thank you!
